The video of the new single Ekomole of Dibi Dobo featuring Angelique Kidjo made its debut on TAYOTV. Fruit of a great international collaboration, his “Ekomole” already rage on the radio and in the media around the world since the beginning of June.
This collaboration is primarily a national show of solidarity and a call to brotherhood. Inspired by Dibi Dobo in Benin, the work was enthusiastically received by Angélique Kidjo: The project was born. Sound posed studio in France and New York is then mixed in Paris and mastered in the US. The title “Ekomole” reveals Dibi Dobo in a different language Fon, in which he often sings: Yoruba, a language spoken particularly in Benin and neighboring Nigeria. Translated into French, “Ekomole” is tantamount to an invitation to dance. Note a nod to the title “Batonga” Angelique Kidjo (” Logozo “album) with the resumption of words “Lile galore towe my Kpon” an incentive to do a demonstration on the dance floor.
Resolutely multicultural, the clip “Ekomole” is shot in the United States and Benin. Angelique Kidjo and Dibi Dobo gathered around an American team of directors, technicians, dancers, cameramen, photographers … Filming in Benin brings a traditional touch dear to both artists through dance tour “the country.” “I wanted the clip combines urban trend and tradition, with the association of US and Benin dancers,” said Dibi Dobo.
The US shooting took place on the site of the Art Factory, a framework dedicated to artists, who also served as the backdrop to musical clips French Montana (“Paranoied”) and Ice Prince (“I Swear “), to name a few. The choice of Porto Novo in Benin as filming site is not a coincidence. Indeed, Benin’s capital is a cradle of Yoruba culture and the door open on Nigeria.
